Blogging, Something worth trying?

My GPS project

Battery Pack

Back of LCD, with a Arduino Atmega328 custom daughterboard

Back of battery pack, polo switch with reed switch. Magnet turns on the power micro turns it off again.

Another pic of the micro in place, with the servo in the foreground. Lovely mount job :p

Back of the LCD, and the top of the latch that mates with the servo locking the box.

Top of the box with the LCD, front this time.

Secrut mini USB port hidden on the side of the box, this allows modification of the code and extra power if batteries fail

ohh and the GPS yet to find a place in the box, I’m thinking at the top near the LCD

And that’s a breif walkthrough of my little project.

What am I doing?

Sitting in front of my computer in Sydney Hotel paid by CSIRO.

Yes im at the ICTC Conference, brain is too active to go to sleep, foreign bed is hard, at least they have my pillow preference right this time.

WHAT AM I TALKING ABOUT, im still in front of a computer typing a blog entry at 23:30 in Sydney.

I need some changes, straighten some priorities out there somewhere. My life seems to orientated around sitting, and sitting in front of a computer screen never less.

I cant even stay still to start learning and program some iPhone apps that I would like to make, keep twitching and moving about reach for reinforcements (Epic quantities of sugar) and find the day’s rolling by with nothing really substantial achieved.

The only thing that makes this all tolerable is Apple Technologies, even if the iPhone is not CSIRO approved.. (lol)

So can anyone provide some direction? I’m floating in some sort of cyber space here? Not really knowing what I will be doing from day to day.. I think I need to get out more. Ohh, soo need to go on a bush walk somewhere, fresh air, exercise, Tas bush land. Or a few days on the ski slopes, but I think I have missed that for this year.

I think I will end my thesis here and find something else to do, umm sleep?

iPhone – Server Upgrade

Yay I have a iPhone…

But I had to send it back 🙁

After owning a brand new iPhone 3Gs for 5 Weeks it burnt up in a BIG Fire Ball, all I did was plug it in!

Any way after having withdrawal symptoms and dusting my laptop of, I have started to get the computing Societies Server back in shape.

The new UPS and backup hard drive upgrade went flawlessly, it was like I was running it on a Mac! The plug in make go go process was a bit to easy. As the current server hasn’t any Sata Ports, we dropped in a PCI card and hooked up a mirrored pair to the machine. No Bios Alterations needed!

More monitoring systems were also installed and security tightened, Yes Don’t get your password wrong now!! (Bans have been added for users who try to guess a password, IP bans for username guessing and instant bans for those who have nothing better to do like guessing root passwords).

The old backup drives have been reused by expanding the users drives, more members = we need more space..

There is allot more cleaning to be done, but it’s coming along nicely now.

YAY TUCS!
